I have no idea how to become Eco-Friendly. This is what I said when we first started this business. In all honesty, I have never really thought about it. That was until Abbey educated me bless her little cotton socks on how easy little changes can truly be to this beautiful planet.

So, I wanted to share with you the few steps that I have taken in and around my home to do my part and hopefully you can do easily at home too.

Dishwasher Tablets are out, Dishwasher Sheets are in.
Theres a few reasons why I am truly happy with this decision. I had no idea the type of chemicals that get used in the tablets and gel tablets that can eventually be harmful, all of the dishwasher sheets come in cardboard boxes, so no more plastic bottles and caps to deal with. Tablets and gel packs may be coated with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). This dissolves in water, releasing the detergent, but also releases PVA into the wastewater. So, with a simple change to Dishwashing Sheets, it’s the better choice for my family, my budget and of course the environment. I will say do your research on the different types of sheets you can use.
The first company I purchased from were terrible, yes, they were environmentally friendly but they were terrible at cleaning our dirty pots but my second purchase from a different company is so much better, if you want the name let me know!

Recycle Bins are in full swing.
Yes, I used to be the naughty person who didn’t care what bin she used. I know, I know. At home, we have tried to move what I can to glass for storage and daily use as much as possible. Super each change that is easy to do and it looks aesthetically pleasing in the fridge and cupboard. But when we do need to use the yellow bin I am very mindful now and have been teaching my 10 year old the meaning behind doing so too.

Passing it down.
Another big change is getting the whole family in on it. As you know I never understood the importance of recycling and doing our part. My mindset always was “ I won’t be here, so who cares” not my finest moment but when I truly think about it and as Abbey is super passionate about is making sure that what we live like now, what our land looks like now, what opportunities we have now is not going to last forever and you can certainly see how the world has changed since we were kids, can you imagine what that is going to look like In 10 to 20 years when your children are having kids? Will the dinosaurs be back? perhaps! but, in all seriousness, when I truly thought about It all it makes sense to do what we can now to make that little bit better for the little feet in your family and the big feet too.

More changes of course have happened and will continue to happen, but if you’re like me at the start of this journey, I found that little steps can make a difference so start out small and go from there, make one change a week, fortnight or go all out and create better practices and do your part.

If you’re ready to make that change and need that extra push, reach out to us as we’re more than happy to help.
